A Baker man was arrested last night for scamming at least three elderly people for phony roof repairs.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the scams took place over the past month. We’re told the suspect, Brandon Ferguson, 24, contacted the victims and informed them that they were in need of roof repairs.

Officials claim Ferguson quoted a price that was significantly lower than the amount he charged once the work was completed. They say in most cased the work consisted of simply spraying paint on the roof.

In addition to the accusations include theft. Ferguson is accused of stealing jewelry from inside on of the homes.

All of the victims are in their 80’s and live in the Red Oaks and Broadmoor areas. However, investigators believe there are more victims in the Baton Rouge-area, or possibly even in the surrounding parishes.

Furguson was arrested on Wednesday, March 20 at his home in Baker. He is charged with three counts of Theft of Assets of an Aged Person and one count of Felony Theft. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

If you believe you may have been victimized by Furguson, please call the Baton Rouge Police Department’s Financial Crimes Division at (225) 389-3871.
