UPDATE: During the evening hours of June 25, Mandeville detectives arrested Lacy Bryant, 22, of Ponchatoula, as part of their ongoing investigation of this past Sunday’s shooting.

Bryant is the live-in girlfriend of accused shooter, Jesse Stowe. She has been charged with Obstruction of Justice and Accessory After the Fact.

The charges are a result of Bryant’s role after the shooting wherein detectives learned that she took custody of the weapon and concealed it with the express intent of aiding Jesse Stowe and hindering the investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY: A Ponchatoula man has been arrested on attempted murder and robbery charges after a drug deal went awry.

On June 23, a Tammany Trace ranger found Leonard J. Breaux Jr., 24, of Covington, unconscious on the Trace near Colbert Street with an apparent gunshot wound to the head at around 6:30 p.m.

Detectives recovered several pieces of evidence, such as the victim’s vehicle and a handgun which is suspected to be the same weapon used in this crime.

Shortly after midnight on June 25, Jesse Stowe, 21, of Ponchatoula, was arrested by Mandeville authorities. He confessed to the crime, acknowledging that the incident stemmed from a narcotics transaction gone awry.

This investigation is ongoing as detectives are still processing evidence.
