St. Landry Parish man beats woman after being asked to leave, arrested

A Sunset resident has been arrested on multiple charges, including battery.

On April 15, St. Landry Parish authorities received a call in regards to a female victim that had been beaten in her home.

When deputies arrived at her home, they immediately were led on a foot chase by Edward James Moton, 34. He was successfully detained by St. Landry Parish deputies.

After interviewing both the victim and Moton, officials learned that Moton beat the victim when she asked him to leave her home. Once Moton left her home, the victim called for help. Moton then returned to the residence, where he was caught by deputies.

Moton was charged with Second-Degree Battery, False Imprisonment, Simple Criminal Damage to Property and Resisting an Officer.
