Stores fear loss of business after shooting
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — "It's a rough little area around here," says one Baton Rouge chef.
Police say the three victims in Monday night's shooting are expected to make a full recovery. Businesses nearby though may not be so lucky.
"It makes customers a little leery to come over to our place of business."
This chef has worked in the area for years. He can't remember anything like this ever happening in the area. That's until the lounge opened up less than a month ago.
"I think it's going to affect business as a far as people wanting to come and be in this area especially late at night."
He called the shooting tragic not just for the victims, but for people and businesses in the area. And he said if the violence continues, moving somewhere else may be the right thing to do.
"If we had the money if that's which way God wants us to go, then that's what we would do."
But until that happens he's going to pay much closer attention to everyone he works with.
"I'll be more observant of the people that work for me. Make sure they're not walking to their cars by themselves and stuff like that."
