Sulphur man locked up for striking two young children on the hands with wooden stick

A Sulphur man was arrested on cruelty charges after he allegedly struck two young children on the hands with wooden sticks, causing them bruising.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that an investigation was launched on Friday, April 5 after receiving a complaint from a local elementary school. They learned that a 5-year-old student had bruising on her hands and claimed they came from Jason N. Nazworth, 36.

Investigators say Nazworth struck the child, as well as another 7-year-old family member, with a wooden stick. Nazworth allegedly admitted to the allegations when questioned by detectives.

Nazworth was arrested and charged with two counts of Cruelty to a Juvenile. He was released on a $4,000 bond.
