Terrytown man arrested for possession, distribution of child pornography

Shane Joseph Gainey was arrested on Wednesday after undercover investigators discovered him distributing child pornography via the Internet, said John Bosco, head of the Louisiana Attorney General’s High Technology Crime Unit.

Gainey, 33, of Terrytown, was booked into the Jefferson Parish Jail on four counts of child pornography, including two counts of possession and two counts of distribution. If convicted, Gainey faces up to 20 years in prison on each count.

The Attorney General’s High Technology Crime Unit, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations participated in the investigation. To report suspected cases of Internet crime, contact the Attorney General’s High Technology Crime Unit at 1-800-256-4506.
