Over $123,000 worth of cocaine was confiscated in Lafayette last week, and a Texas man is sitting behind bars for being in possession of it.

The Lafayette Metro Narcotics Task Force reports that suspect, Derrick Turner of Orange, Texas, was arrested on July 3. He was found to be in possession of approximately 2.7 pounds of powdered cocaine, as well as 28 grams of marijuana.

Officials did not say how officers made the discovery. They only note that it happened in the 100 block of Lee Ave.

Turner was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I Narcotics (marijuana) and Schedule II Narcotics (cocaine).
