Thibodaux police seek man who nearly rams officer, goes on high-speed chase

Thibodaux police are looking for Elgin Parfait Jr., 28, of Houma, who is wanted on several charges.

Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, deputies observed Parfait driving recklessly in his pickup truck.

When they dried to make a traffic stop, Parfait rammed his truck into the police car, nearly hitting the officer. Parfait then sped away.

Police engaged Parfait in a high speed chase for nearly 14 miles until unsafe conditions caused them to end the pursuit in Raceland.

Parfait is currently wanted for Attempted First Degree Murder of a Police Officer, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Simple Criminal Damage to Property, Criminal Trespass, Possession of Marijuana, and Reckless Operation of a Vehicle. His bond is set at $318,500.

Thibodaux Police are working in conjunction with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office to locate Elgin Parfait Jr.
