EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH SHERIFF'S OFFICE — Two undercover East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies stopped a man and a juvenile attempting to rob a woman of her vehicle today at approximately 1:00 p.m. at the corner of Floynell and Jefferson Highway.
According to reports, deputies were filling up their vehicles at the gas station located at the corner of Floynell and Jefferson, when they heard a woman yell. The deputies ran to the woman that was in the parking lot of the building next to the gas station. Two male suspects allegedly approached the woman, one pointed a gun at her and demanded keys to her car.
When deputies confronted the two suspects, the 15-year-old suspect stopped and was imediately taken into custody. The armed man, Ahmed Muhammad, continued to flee. Deputies pursued him across the street into an area of trees. When deputies observed his gun and ordered him to drop it, he refused. Deputies fired at Muhammad, missing him. He was then taken into custody. A third suspect that arrived with Muhammad and the 15-year-old fled the area in the vehicle they arrived in. Detectives later identified and apprehended the 14-year-old male.
Ahmed Muhammad, 17 is charged with Attempted Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer. The 15-year-old male is charged with Attempted Armed Robbery and the 14-year-old male driver is charged with Principal to Armed Robbery.
Muhammad was booked into parish prison and the juveniles into juvenile detention.
