Traffic stop leads to discovery of over 18 pounds of marijuana

A State Trooper stopped a 2013 Dodge Charger for a traffic violation on I-20 in Bienville Parish which led to the discovery of over 18 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle on August 19.

The driver of the vehicle, Christopher L. Taylor, 26, of Columbia, South Carolina, gave consent to search the vehicle he was driving.

During a search of the vehicle, Troopers located approximately 18 1/2 pounds of hydroponic marijuana hidden in the vehicle with an estimated street value of $55,000.

Taylor was charged with Improper Lane Usage, Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana, and Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana.

The vehicle's passenger, Jirek R. Mack, 25, of Cayce, South Carolina, was also placed under arrest and charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana.

Both subjects were booked into the Bienville Parish Jail. Bond on Taylor was set at $61,000. Bond on Mack was set at $60,000.

If convicted, both subjects face from 5 to 45 years in prison and a fine of up to $75,000.
