Two Tara High students arrested for using illegal gun to threaten classmate
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — Two students at Tara High were arrested today after a gun was found in the booksack of a 10th grader.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted during the afternoon on Tuesday, March 5 after a student reported that the gun was on campus.
Officials say Jesus Morejon, 17, pulled the gun out and pointed it in the face of another student during class. He allegedly returned the weapon to a 16-year-old student, who confessed that he purchased the gun illegally off the street.
Deputies recovered a .38 caliber handgun inside the 16-year-olds booksack. It was reportedly unloaded.
The 16-year-old student was arrested and was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.
Morejon was arrested and charged with Illegal Carrying of a Weapon on School Property and Aggravated Assault. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
