GONZALES, LA (FOX44) — The Gonzales Police Department reported that they’ve arrested Mark Johnson, 44, of Baker, in connection with the theft of a coin-operated air machine on Highway 44 in December.
Detectives were able to obtain leads based on the surveillance photo circulated through the media.
On Tuesday, Jan. 7, the officers located Johnson and his vehicle at an apartment complex on Manchester Drive in Baker.
After questioning, investigators were able to determine that Johnson was the suspect pictured in the surveillance footage.
As a result of the images pictured in news articles, Johnson had even replaced the SUV’s damaged door and front rim.
Baker police arrested Johnson as a fugitive. He was then transferred to the custody of the Gonzales Police Department and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on one count of criminal damage to a coin operated devices and one count of theft.
Detectives are still investigating Johnson’s possible connection to similar crimes in other parishes along the I-10 corridor.
