LAFAYETTE, LA — UPDATE - Lafayette Police have charge the juvenile suspect with Attempted Second-Degree Murder in connection with an unrelatd shooting that occurred on August 8.
The suspect is alleged to have shot a 27-year-old male in the jaw as the victim rode his bike. Police were called in the early morning hours to the intersection St. Landry and University Avenue where the victim advised he was shot in a nearby neighborhood.
Both investigations remain ongoing.
A 15-year-old has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a woman in Lafayette.
On August 18 at approximately 1:10 a.m., Lafayette Police responded to the 1100 block of Madeline Avenue regarding a shooting victim.
When officers arrived on the scene, they located Connie Burch, 51, lying on the sidewalk near a coulee bridge. The victim was dead as the result of a single gunshot wound. The shooting is believed to have occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.
Today, Lafayette Police have arrested a 15-year-old male juvenile, of Lafayette. He has been charged with First-Degree Murder.
The juvenile is believed to have shot Burch and was booked into the Lafayette Parish Juvenile Detention Center. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
