Victims of Broussard burglary arrested on drug, gun charges
BROUSSARD, LA (FOX44) — Two men from California have been arrested in Lafayette Parish on drug and gun charges after police investigated their buglarized residence.
On March 11, the Broussard Police Department was conducting an investigation regarding a burglary that occurred a week ago at a home in the 100 block of Padre Drive.
The victims, Richard Westley, 26, and Daniel Bebernes, 27, were living in the state to work as offshore divers.
While speaking to Westley and Bebernes, detectives discovered 101 grams of hydroponic, high-grade marijuana (with a street value of $9,000), a fully loaded high-powered AR15 assault rifle, a fully loaded Sig Sauer .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun and drug paraphernalia in their residence.
Westley was booked on Possession with intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Narcotics, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Bebernes was booked on Simple Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Narcotics, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
