Woman accused of tossing puppies off balcony pleas ‘not guilty’; arrested again over weekend

The woman accused of tossing two puppies from the third floor balcony at a New Orleans hotel pled “not guilty” in court this morning. She is also facing additional charges for an incident that occurred over the weekend.

Kisha Carter, 25, appeared in court for arraignment on Tuesday, April 30. She is accused of causing the death of two puppies at the Crystal Inn on Tulane Ave. It happened on Saturday, April 6.

Surveillance cameras captured the disturbing images of the puppies hitting the ground. Although Carter is not visible in the footage, investigators believe they have sufficient forensic evidence connecting her to the crime.

Carter is also facing new charges for a second run-in with police that occurred over the weekend. She was arrested by the New Orleans Police Department on Friday, April 26 on a theft charge.

Officials tell us Carter was located in a stolen vehicle on the 1800 block of Magazine Street. They could not provide any additional details at this time regarding the investigation.

Carter’s bond for the two counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals was set at $100,000. Her new bond for the charge of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things was set at $5,000.

Carter’s next court appearance for the cruelty case has been scheduled for May 23.
