Cyclist, 16, killed after being struck by SUV
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (FOX44) — A teenager was killed after being struck by a vehicle in St. Tammany Parish.
On January 21 at around 5:00 p.m., deputies responded to a crash involving Justin Addison, 16, and a vehicle at the intersection of Josephine St and the St. Tammany Trace. Addison was riding a bicycle when he was struck .
Addison, a Covington-area teenager, was transported to St. Tammany Parish Hospital with internal injuries.
Deputies from the St. Tammany Traffic Division spoke with a witness biking on the Trace, as well as the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash.
Officials concluded that the teenager ran the stop sign at Josephine Street and collided with a GMC SUV, which was driven by a Covington resident.
The driver of the SUV was determined to be clear of fault in the crash.
Shortly after midnight on January 22, Addison passed away from his injuries following several hours of surgery. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
