Deepwater Horizon Claims Administration surpasses $2 billion in eligibility notices
LOUISIANA — Deepwater Horizon Claims Administrator Patrick A. Juneau has announced Deepwater Horizon Eligibility Notices have surpassed $2 billion.
“As of the close of business on Friday, February 1, we have issued eligibility notices with payment offers for $2,000,994,024,” said Juneau. “While this is a significant milestone, our focus remains on processing claims in an efficient and timely manner.”
An eligibility notice is issued after a claim is thoroughly reviewed and a determination is made that the claimant has a valid claim. The notice is then sent to the claimant for their review and at that time a claimant can accept the offer, reject the offer or ask for a re-determination.
“Currently our acceptance rate for eligible payments is ninety-four percent,” said Juneau. “This high rate of acceptance verifies that we are providing a fair settlement.”
The deadline to file claims is April 22, 2014. Claimants can get more information by visiting the Deepwater Horizon Economic Settlement official website at www.deepwaterhorizoneconomicsettlment.com or by calling toll free (866) 992-6174.
