DOTD: MAP worker killed in I-10 crash

DOTD has confirmed the victim in this morning's crash on I-10 was a Motorist Assistance Patrol worker. The name of the victim hasn't been released, and we're not sure what led to the crash.

In a statement, the Department of Transportation and Development said "We are deeply saddened by the loss of this and any life. Safety is of the utmost importance for DOTD. We will conduct a thorough investigation of this incident."


ORIGINAL: Baton Rouge Police are on the scene of a fatal crash on I-10 on the Mississippi River Bridge. It happened just before 9:30 a.m.

I-10 West is closed while police work to investigate the crash.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area. Traffic is being diverted on I-110 North.
