Driver wanted in fatal hit and run case turned himself in to state police
WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (FOX44) — State Police arrested 64 year old Robert E. Harrison of Port Allen, LA for a Hit-and-Run Driving charge. Harrison turned himself in to State Police, and was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail. The 1994 Ford van that Harrison was driving at the time of the crash was submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for further analysis.
Saturday morning shortly after 1:40 a.m., troopers arrived on the scene of a fatal hit and run. They say it happened on LA Hwy 76 east of LA Hwy 415 in West Baton Rouge Parish. Two cars hit 48-year-old Denisce M. McCurley.
The initial investigation by State Police revealed that McCurley was walking partially in the roadway eastbound on LA 76 when a then unidentified eastbound vehicle struck her. The vehicle, allegedly driven by Harrison fled the scene.
A second eastbound vehicle then struck McCurley, and the driver of the second vehicle stopped and called 911. Evidence shows that McCurley was likely killed by the impact from the first vehicle.
Intoxication on the part of McCurley is unknown at this time. State Troopers have submitted a toxicology sample from McCurley to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for further analysis.
