Off-duty firefighter saves woman after crash from burning vehicle

An off-duty firefighter is credited with saving the life of a woman who was trapped in a burning vehicle after a crash.

The incident happened on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at roughly 7:00 a.m. St. George firefighter Jonathan Dixon was on his way home from a 24-hour shift at the station located on Perkins Road. When he approached the Magnolia Road Bridge, he came upon a crash scene where a vehicle was partially trapped under an 18-wheeler.

Dixon rushed to the vehicle that was on fire and helped the woman inside to escape safely. It was at this time that other emergency responders arrived on scene to render further aid.

The woman survived the incident and Dixon is credited with saving her life.
