Earl K. Long to close in April

Monday, March 25, 2013 - 6:00pm

Earl K. Long will close in three weeks after three years of planning by LSU.

Most of the hospital's services will be transferred to Our Lady of the Lake.

OLOL is also taking control of LSU's clinics around Baton Rouge.

General prisoner care will move from Baton Rouge to Lallie Kemp Charity Hospital, which is located in Independence.

LSU formed public-private partnerships for all seven of its hospitals in south Louisiana because of a drop in federal funding.

Earl K. Long is the only hospital that's scheduled to close.
