Earl K. Long in final stages of shutting down

The last steps have been taken to shut down Earl K Long hospital.

The state civil service board approved LSU's plan to close the hospital and transfer its services to Our Lady of the Lake.

Nearly 800 doctors, nurses, and staff members will lose their jobs on the 15th.

The Lake has opened 400 spots, but 2,400 people applied.

Some employees have heard that they'll get to keep their jobs, while others are still waiting.
