BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — Both the Baton Rouge Police Department and East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office are one step closer to having a new home.

The Metro Council approved a measure to let the city take out a loan to buy the old Woman's Hospital, located on Airline.

The Mayor's Office isn't ready to take out a loan, but it can now start shopping for rates.

The loan could be in upwards to $11 million, and would likely have a term of 15 years.

The city has until June to examine the property before the sale becomes official, but officials don't expect to find any problems.
