EBRSO delivers toys to kids as part of their 'Christmas Crusade'

Today, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office and the Baton Rouge Constable's Office donated gifts to families in need.

The Christmas Crusade for Children received 3,000 applications for gifts this year.

A few deputies traveled to the last few houses on their list this morning in the Scotlandville area, and the deputies say these gifts really make a difference during the holiday season.

"I think if they live in a certain community or in a certain way, they already know that they are probably not going to get the gifts they want. But I think when we come surprise them with things, I think they love it,” stated Cpl. Chad Parker.

"A lot of parents don't have the money to buy children their toys and stuff like that, so it’s pretty good to have things that they always need and sometimes don't always get," stated gift recipient Mildred Wisham.

These gifts are donated by many local agencies; a major contributor is the Baton Rouge Holiday Helpers.
