FEMA deadline nears for Hurricane Isaac assisstance

Thursday, November 22, 2012 - 2:00am

More than $2 million has gone to help rebuild East Baton Rouge Parish in the wake of Hurricane Isaac.

If you haven't applied for help yet, time is running out; FEMA’s deadline for new applications is a week from Thursday.

You can still get money to cover temporary housing, damages caused by the storm, and even emotional counseling.

So far, 5,400 EBR Parish residents have received just over $2 million in assistance. Only about half of that comes from FEMA for housing assistance.

Statewide, disaster assistance has passed $360 million.

If you still need to apply for help, you can visit DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362.
