Flamingo fans and fun lovers flock to Spanish Town Parade

Thousands of people put on pink and flocked to Downtown Baton Rouge Saturday for the annual Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade.

Feathers and flamingos were every where. The raunchy themed floats rolled through the city. Zombie themed dancers showed off their deadly moves. The crowded couldn't get enough of the special throws including slices of breads. Riders and parade goers celebrated the unique experience they said you can only get at Spanish Town.

"When you go to these other big parades I don't know if you pay that much attention to the floats," Debi Russell, parade goer, explained. "But here it's all about the floats. It's like who can come up with the worst political satire for the theme of the parade."

Marlena Murphy road in the parade, she said: "I think everybody in the city comes out for Spanish Town. It's just a tradition around here, and everybody loves it. It's just a lot of fun.

This years grand marshal was Gerald Woods.
