BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — A press confrence has been called by former Baton Rouge Police Chief Dewayne White's attorney Jill Craft.
That press conference is set for 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb 7. Craft is expected to lay out the details of White's plans going forward.
White was removed from his position on Wednesday, Feb. 6. He has ten days to appeal his firing before a board, and has hired on attorney Jill Craft to represent him.
A spokesperson for the Baton Rouge Police Department has also told us that per adminstraive policy Lt. Carl Dabedie will act as chief while the position is vacant.
White was appointed police chief in June 2011 after an exhaustive search. During his first full year in office the department saw a small increase in homicides. He also launched the BRAVE Project, which focused its efforts on the 70805 area code.
