Italy (NBC) — Italian police said an anti-mafia operation revealed that a mobster was fed to pigs whle he was still alive.
Police in the Southern Reggio Calabria province investigating a number of murders found that Francesco Raccosta, a member of a local crime syndicate, was fed to the pigs by his rivals last year.
Police intercepted a phone call in which one of the suspected killers boasted about how he enjoyed hearing Raccosta screaming.
A police statement said his murder demonstrated the "utmost ruthlessness and cruelty" of the mafia clans.
It's believed Raccosta was killed due to a decades' long and deadly rivalry between two clans: the Bonarrigo-Mazzagatti-Polimeni and the Ferraro-Raccosta syndicate.
