BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — Baton Rouge Judge Michael Caldwell says Governor Bobby Jindal’s revamp of teacher tenure laws is illegal because it was included in legislation that had too many other items.
Caldwell had already thrown out other parts of the law because they limited the authority of local school systems. Caldwell agrees with the Louisiana Federation of Teachers that the entire bill must be thrown out. He says the tenure rule is crammed into legislation with too many other items.
Today, the Jindal administration announced it will appeal Caldwell’s ruling.
FOX44’s Kris Cusanza is tracking this story, and we’ll update as we get reaction from the Louisiana Federation of Teachers and the Jindal administration.
