Juban Crossing may receive state funding
LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (FOX44) — The long-delayed Juban Crossing project could get an injection of state money.
State Senator Dale Erdey has filed a bill that would create a special fund in the state budget that would be dedicated to the shopping complex.
The state would provide up to $45 million for infrastructure and building costs.
Juban Crossing would create as many as 1,500 jobs, so people NBC33 spoke with tell us they want to finally happen.
"It's time for Mr. Jindal to step up,” stated Johnny Ardoin. “He says he is all about jobs, so like I said, he needs to step up and get it done.”
"We need the shopping center out here so we don't have to go into Baton Rouge,” said Larie Chaney, “and it would help create jobs and help Livingston Parish."
Governor Jindal vetoed a similar bill last year, even though it had strong support from both the Senate and the House.
