BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — A man had to escape through his bedroom window after a fire broke out in his kitchen.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reports that the fire was called in shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30. When firefighters arrived at the duplex on Lorraine Ave. it was engulfed in flames.
The occupant of the home said he was in his bedroom when he smelled smoke. As he left the bedroom to go investigate, he saw the flames from the kitchen. The man then went back into the bedroom and escaped through a window.
Investigators have not yet determined a cause for this fire.
The fire destroyed the majority of the home and caused moderate smoke and water damage to the adjacent unit. The estimated value of damage is $55,000.
