Krewe sues over trademark dispute with vodka maker
NEW ORLEANS, LA (FOX44) — A Mardi Gras-themed vodka was served papers by the “King of Carnival” for a trademark dispute.
WDSU reports that the Rex Organization filed suit in New Orleans federal court Thursday against REX Spirits. The suit claims that the company is illegally using the krewe’s image to market the product. They contend that the product, King REX, violates trademark protections because the product is conveyed to be produced in conjunction with the krewe via its marketing campaign.
The Rex Organization is the oldest parade krewe in New Orleans. They seek damages and injunctive relief from the court.
