'Lagniappe from the Bayou' seeks donations for Hurricane Sandy relief effort
MATHEWS, LA — Lafourche Parish Government is partnering with Arabie Trucking of Thibodaux to bring aide to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Two trucks will be sent with donations to the people on the east coast, reaching them for Thanksgiving.
"We are a family owned and operated company," Sandy Arabie, owner of Arabie Trucking, said. "We know how a family can be impacted by a hurricane, and we know what it's like to feel forgotten, and we had to do something. I'm so honored to live in a community that is so generous and willing to help those in need."
Donations are needed for can goods, paper goods, baby food, diapers, cleaning supplies, water, batteries, blankets, pet supplies, etc. anything we would need after a hurricane is needed by the east coast. Donations will be collected until November 16 at Arabie Trucking, the Thibodaux Main Street "Big Boy Cook-Off" & Thibodeauxville Fall Festival (information booth.) Donation drop sites will also include the Mathews Government Complex and the Galliano Government Complex.
"Those of us who live and work on the Gulf Coast know what those who have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy are going through," Charlotte Randolph, Lafourche Parish President, said. "Lafourche Parish Government is proud to partner with this generous citizen initiative."
