LELA wants to help you pay for your child’s college tuition
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — With financial aid deadlines approaching, parents and high school seniors are thinking about ways to pay for college. Today, one organization helped parents do just that.
LELA (Louisiana Education Loan Authority) spent the day at Woodlawn High School helping students complete their FAFSA forms, which is used to determine if students qualify for grants or loans.
There’s also thousands of dollars available through scholarships. LELA representatives say there is always money that any student can qualify for, but many students and even parents don't know how to find it.
"Many Louisiana high school seniors are first generation college students so their parents may not be aware of moneys that are there, available to them to help pay for college expenses," Ann Carmichael, LELA representative, said.
