Livingston Parish Disaster Recovery Team ready to gather information on Tuesday morning

Tuesday, September 4, 2012 - 7:00am

In an effort to speed the recovery process for Hurricane Isaac, Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks and Livingston OHSEP Director Mark Harrell have established the Hurricane Disaster Recovery Team.

Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 8:00 a.m., Ricks is asking all families whose property was damaged by Hurricane Isaac to call the Livingston HSEP Hotline at (225) 686-3996. Callers should give their name, address, phone number, and description of the damage.

“This information will help us gather the necessary information for out post-disaster report,” said Ricks. “Rather than doing a physical assessment, our OHSEP can gather the information by phone.”

Ricks also said because of the number of homes damaged by the storm, he is asking for patience when calling.
“We will have our disaster recovery team ready to take your information,” said Harrell. “However we are anticipating a high volume of calls on Tuesday, so please be patient if the line is busy.”

Ricks said this is just another step in the recovery process.

“A vast majority of our citizens have shown great patience during these trying times,” said Ricks. “I understand their frustration and we are working to make this recovery process run as smoothly as possible.”

Additionally, Ricks announced the southend curfew has ended and all the parish's waterways will open on Tuesday.
