Grocery stores are seeing a boom in the sale of Spam.  A lot of folks are cutting back on sausage and bacon and replacing it with Spam at the dinner table.  Spam was popular during WWII and the depression because of its low cost.

It's often the butt of jokes, but no ones laughing about the sluggish economy these days and Spam is making a comeback.

Matherne's grocery store off Perkins Road has reported a 20% increase in Spam sales this year.
