BAKER, LA (FOX44) — Investigators want to know what caused a plane to crash into a neighborhood.
Saturday investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration National Transportation Safety Board and experts from the plane's manufacturer were on hand to go over the scene. They walked through the yards looking at what's left of the plane.
Around 1:00 Friday afternoon, a private plane took off from the Baton Rouge Airport. just a couple minutes later, it crashed into three homes, causing violent explosions and setting two of them on fire. that area remains blocked off.
The experts still have a lot of unanswered questions, and investigators say it will be a while before they have any answers.
Brian Capone, Federal Aviation Administration, explained, "It takes a pretty long time to look at all of it and put it together to try and determine what caused it. The reason for that is to try and prevent it from happening again. "
Up next investigators will remove the remains of the plane from the neighborhood to comb the pieces over for clues. No word on when that will happen.
