A Louisiana man is among three individuals who drowned during separate incidents in Alabama. They occurred within a 24-hour period, prompting a beach closure.

Matthew Hattaway, 25, of Bossier, La., was pronounced dead on Sunday, June 9 at roughly 3:00 p.m. in Baldwin County. Officials say a relative spotted him floating in the surf.

A few hours later, John Hogue, 51, of Kansas, was pronounced dead after he was pulled from the surf.

The third victim has not been located.

All three incidents happened near the Gulf Shores area. On Monday, June 10, officials issued double red flags, which means all beaches from Gulf State Park to Laguna Key are closed to the public.
