BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) - Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Walker, who at one point was current mayor Kip Holden's biggest ally, announced he plans on running against Holden in November.

He says crime is growing out of control, and Holden isn't doing enough to control the violence.

“I’m running for mayor-president because it’s time for the lawlessness to end,” stated Walker. “In our parish, it’s time to start over in public education. It’s time for the mayor-president to have a jobs policy, not a foreign policy.”

Walker said if he wins, he'll plan on keeping that spot for 8 years.

So far, three people plan to challenge Holden in the November race.
