OCEAN SPRINGS, MS — Vice President Joe Biden reveals his favorite barbecue sauce comes from southern Mississippi.
It’s called The Shed, after the restaurant where it's made.
When the owners of The Shed found out their original BBQ sauce has a spot on The White House table, they were overjoyed.
“What day do you wake up and find out somebody like Vice President of the United States likes what you produce,” said Linda Orrison, The Shed’s marketing director.
Orrison is also the mother of owners Brad and Brooke who made a video inviting the VP to The Shed, “We just wanted it to be a fun thing, and a non-political thing. A thing like here we really appreciate that you like that sauce and we will have plenty for him when he gets here.”
Last year, Mama Orrison says she was at a show selling their sauce when she was approached by the White House Executive Chef.
“And you know he said, the Vice President loves your sauce and I have to get it every time we have a barbecue at the White House,” Orrison explained.
Politicians aren't the only ones buying the sauce. Heidi Hale and her husband came all the way from Marion, AL to pick up a bottle as a gift for a friend.
“It's good. It's worth the drive. We drove 4.5 hours so it's worth it,” Hale told CNN.
Hale may have had to make a drive, but fortunately The White House Executive Chef, doesn't have to go far.
“We're in four thousand stores now. So now he just buys it locally which is great that he can actually get it in Washington, D.C. on some grocery store shelf,” Orrison told CNN.
And Mama Orrison has one last message for the VP, “If you come and we get to show you the Mississippi Gulf Coast, we'll be really proud.”
