Man dies after crashing into train's tanker cars
OUACHITA PARISH, LA — One man is dead and another one is injured after colliding with a train in Ouachita Parish.
On June 18 at 5:35 p.m., State Troopers were sent a fatal crash that involved a train on Louisiana Highway 134 east of Louisiana Highway 139.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a truck, driven by Jason Hensley, 22, of Lake Providence, was traveling east on Louisiana Highway 134 when it struck the side of a Union Pacific freight train that was traveling south.
Hensley was pulling a trailer loaded with a 1999 Mercury Tracer. The truck struck the train on the 100 and 101 tanker cars.
Jason Hensley suffered fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, Brandon Hensley, 27 of Lake Providence, was transported to St. Francis Medical Center with minor injuries.
Alcohol use is not suspected. A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
The crash occurred at a crossing with active warning devices (flashing lights, gates, and bells).
