BOSTON (CNN) — This year's Boston Marathon had a special ending for runner John Duncan.
Duncan crossed the finish line and proposed to his girlfriend and fellow runner Jodi Nili.
“This is my 16th Boston Marathon, I've trained thousands of runners for team and training. I love Boston, I love to run. 136 marathons, what better place than Boston. We met, she trained for her first marathon in November in Fresno, just ran her second marathon in Knoxville three weeks ago. So what better place than Boston, the mecca of running,” runner John Duncan said.
Runners from around the world travel to Boston each year to participate in the marathon.
Three people were killed and more than 180 were wounded last year when two bombs exploded near the finish line.
