ALBANY, LA (FOX44) — An Albany man is now dead after threatening police with a gun, who tried to stop him from comitting suicide.
Livingston Sheriff Jason Ard says a man was trying to commit suicide at a home in the 3100 block of
Old Baton Rouge Highway, around 3:00 p.m. on August 27, 2014.
Deputies told the man to put his gun down several times, according to Ard.
But the man allegedly pointed his gun at responding deputies.
Sheriff Ard says the man was shot because he was an “imminent threat.”
The Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Louisiana State Police are assisting the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office with an ongoing investigation into the case.
