Metro Council sworn into office
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — The new East Baton Rouge Metro Council was sworn into office earlier today.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the River Center.
The eight members of the council that were reelected, along with the four newest members of the council, were sworn in.
Chandler Loupe was voted as the Mayor Pro-Tem of the Metro Council. He replaces Mike Walker.
A new member, Chauna Banks-Daniel, told NBC33 she, along with the whole council, have a big jobs ahead of them.
"It’s a very exciting day. I’m so excited about the opportunity,” stated Banks-Daniel. “Ir’s an exciting day; I’m so excited about the opportunity to be inaugurated today to officially represent the residents of District Two."
The first official council meeting is two weeks away.
