Motorcyclist killed after colliding with deer in Richland Parish

A deer caused a fatal crash that took the life of a Delhi man.

State Troopers were called to the crash site on July 28 at 8:53 p.m.,

A 1993 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, driven by Bobby Davis, 67, was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 134 when it struck a deer that was crossing the road. The Honda then drove off the right side of the road and into a drainage ditch.

Bobby Davis was wearing a DOT approved helmet, but suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene by the Richland Parish Coroner’s office. The motorcycle's passenger, Mary Davis, 66, was wearing a DOT approved helmet and was transported to Richardson Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Alcohol use is not suspected. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
