Motorcyclist killed in St. Charles Parish crash
ST. CHARLES PARISH, LA — On Octover 23 at approximately 8:45 p.m., State Troopers investigated a fatal crash in St. Charles Parish on LA 52 at David Court.
Michael Cullins, 39, of Paradis was driving a 2010 Kawasaki motorcycle and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Elke Forbes, 35, of Thibodaux, LA, was driving a 2006 Dodge Caravan. Forbes was attempting to turn left onto LA 52 south from a private drive. Cullins was traveling north on LA 52 when the Dodge Caravan pulled into his path and the motorcycle impacted the Caravan. Cullins was transported to St. Charles Hospital where he later died due to injuries sustained in the crash. Forbes and a passenger, Sierrarene Gerard (B/F, age 19), were transported to Ochsner Kenner Medical Center with minor injuries.
A blood sample was taken from Forbes in order to determine if impairment was a factor of the crash. The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab will conduct a toxicology analysis. Toxicology results are pending an autopsy on Cullins. Forbes was arrested and charged with Negligent Homicide and Failure to Yield from a Private Drive. The crash remains under investigation.
