BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — The Department of Health and Hospitals is now taking applications for the newly created inspector general job.
The new position will serve to root out Medicaid fraud and take a close look at spending in the department.
DHH secretary Bruce Greenstein says they've already anticipated the inspector to save them over $16 million. He added that over time the fraud money they catch could help with monetary cuts.
Secretary Greenstein says the inspector will also find fraud cases before the money is paid out instead of working retroactively like they do now.
