BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — The LSU Board of Supervisors is moving closer to approving plans for the Nicholson Gateway project. It's a multi-use development that would have housing, retail and entertainment space.
Plans were rolled out in front of the board Friday for the proposed site, and board members say they like what they're seeing. The plans call for several apartments, retail space and office space.
Board member Justin Mannino says it's an exciting venture for the university and one that's long overdue.
"The way that they're developing the area - to make it a campus feel versus a major highway running through the center of your campus – I think will be a great asset," stated Mannino.
The project would be paid for through a private partnership, and the board says it's still possible a private developer will step in
