LOUISIANA (FOX44) — A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through the weekend for much of southeast Louisiana and parts of southern Mississippi.
The National Weather Service issued the watch on Friday, July 5 for Jefferson, Lafourche, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, Terrebonne, Tangipahoa, Orleans, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany and Washington parishes in the watch for southeast Louisiana.
That watch extends to Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, Pike and Walthall counties in south Mississippi.
Those areas can expect to see heavy rainfall – between 2 to 4 inches - throughout the weekend. It could cause street flooding in poorly drained areas and in areas of bayous and canals.
The watch will remain in place through Sunday, July 7.
