Pedestrian discovers body of cyclist killed by hit-and-run driver in Gonzales

State Police are on the scene of a fatal crash involving a man on a bicycle.

Officials tell us they believe the incident happened during the early morning on Tuesday, March 19 at the intersection of Highways 934 (Black Bayou Road) and 44 (North Burnside) in Gonzales.

State Police say the victim, Frank J. Bercegeay, 49, of Prairieville, was on a bike when he was hit by a car. His body was found by another pedestrian walking in the area.

Investigators have been unable to determine what type of vehicle struck Bercegeay, but believe that the vehicle will possibly have damage to the right side and/or to a right side mirror.
